ELECTRONICS AND INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERING

Picture

Instrumentation is the branch of engineering that deals with measurement and control. In  this  fully  automated  world, this  course  which  is  a  complete  blend  of  technical  subjects  involving  both  Electronics  and  Instrumentation  areas  seems  to find  its  own  place  in  providing  the  students  with  adequate  knowledge  and
expertise.

Electronics being the order of the day, it is very much necessary for the young minds  to  get  accustomed  with  the  latest  developments  in  Electronics  field.

Moreover  a  combination  of  Electronics  and  Instrumentation  would  fetch  high dividends  for  the  students  who  take  up  Electronics  and  Instrumentation  as  their career course.

With  the  increasing  demand  for  instrumentation  engineers, the  Department  of Electronics  and  Instrumentation  Engineering  was  started  in  1998  and  has  been producing  resourceful  engineers  for  the  past  ten  years.  The  department  has  been accredited by AICTE, New Delhi. The department has obtained two AICTE grants in the last five years for Establishment and Modernization of Laboratories.

The  department  has been blessed  with  well-experienced and highly-motivated faculty  members.  In  the  academic  research,  most  of  faculty  members  of  the department  are  involved  in  research  work  in  emerging  areas  which  is  the  major strength  of  the  department.  The  department  primly  focuses  on  areas  like  microprocessors,  micro-controllers,  Telecommunication,  Robotics,  Biomedical, digital  signal  processing,  transducers  and  measurement  ,  Computer  Control  in Process applications, virtual instrumentation etc.

Practical  knowledge  being  the  most  vital  part  of  education  the  department trains  the  students  in  the  well-equipped  laboratories  like  Electronics  lab, transducers  and  measurements  lab,  process –control,  automation  lab,  micro-controllers and micro-processors lab.  All the labs are well equipped with state- of- the- art equipment and latest software packages like MATLAB, PLC, P-SPICE and LabVIEW for the accessibility of students.

The  department  conducts  career  development programs  with  objective  of improving the communication skills, personality development, and tips for facing the interview, technical writing etc. by inviting external expert lectures. As a result of this effort, the students are faring well in the campus interviews and University Examinations.  The  department  monitors  the  student's  progress  regularly  and providing  necessary  counseling  at  various  levels  towards  achieving  better  results.

The  students  are  encouraged  to  take active  part  in  cultural  programs,  seminars, paper presentation, quiz programs, sports, etc. The department also understands the importance  of  practical  exposure  to  students  and  periodically  arranged  industrial visits and implant training in industries under various domains.

The department has also conducted one International conference on Nano and Micro-electronics  during  Jan  2008  and  one National  conference  on  Control, Instrumentation, measurement and automation during Feb. 2008.
